We believe the skills to effectively locate, ethically use, and critically evaluate information are as important as factual knowledge and should be taught to all CVU students. We want all students to value and enjoy reading, literature, and free speech as a cornerstone of a democratic society.

The library is co-sponsoring a writing contest with THE BEAT, CVU's student produced newspaper.

The Winner Will Have His or Her Story Published in THE BEAT and Receive a $25 Gift Certificate to The Flying Pig Bookstore in Shelburne courtesy of the CVU Library

For interested students:

Guidelines:

1) Rewrite any novel, fairytale, or nursery rhyme in 1,000 words or less.

2) Be as creative as you can. Make the story your own.

3) Email your story as a word attachment to Noah Smith at noahsmith@cvuhs.org by November 11th.

4) List your name and the story or poem title in the body of the email, but only the title on the attachment.

5) Pat yourself on the back. Writing is fun. Sharing your words is courageous.
